Holford’s CV: yet more

September 8th, 2007 · 5 Comments

Curiouser and curiouser. Not only have we the curious case of Dr Marks, but Holford’s CV on his web site, and as submitted to the University of Tesside, has alway said that his degree from the University of York in experimental psychology was taken in 1973 – 1976. But an enquiry to the registrar of the University of York, elicited this response.

Dear Professor Colquhoun
Your enquiry about a claim to hold a degree from the University of York has been passed to me.

I can confirm that a BSc in Psychology was awarded to a P J Holford in 1979, as published in the Yorkshire Evening Press on 7 July 1979.

University of York

It does seem odd to make an error of three years in the dates of your own degree.

Read much more about all these inconsistencies at Holfordwatch and at Quackometer.

Update 17th September 2007

Another email today from the Registrar reveals that Mr Holford got a 2.2 degree.

i don’t understand – Holford claims to have a degree in “experimental psychology” yet York say his degree is in “psychology.”

Where does the ‘experimental’ part fit in to all of this?

Enquiring minds want to know, Superburger, and are even now hanging out in various spots saying “Psst, are you a York graduate? Can you check/verify something for me?”. That was the perfectly true account of my actions that I gave and I have no idea why security looked at me in such an odd fashion.

Well the degree class is a generous mark for his usual number-handling skills. However, might I express my proxy disappointment on behalf of the true-supplements-believers that this is the best that somebody taking supplements can achieve, especially if one factors in the (presumed) educational advantages of having attended Westminster School.
